Innovative Broker Video Communications Case Study for Medicare Enrollment

The latest Flimp Media case study focuses on a highly successful broker communications program from Medica Health Plans to their broker network.  Medica launched a pilot program to assist brokers in communicating with their Medicare customers using Flimp interactive video postcards.

Richard Storms, Medica’s Medicare Field Sales Manager noted:

“We felt that a video email postcard, featuring a personalized video message from agent-brokers would be an innovative way to help brokers help their customers during the Medicare open enrollment process.  The video postcards also included hyperlilnks to PDFs with open enrollment information.”

Three Medicare agent-brokers were selected to participate in the pilot.  Medica produced videos featuring each broker delivering a personalized message to their customers.  The video postcard was then distributed to the individual broker’s Medicare customer list prior to the benefits open enrollment period using Flimp’s do-it-yourself rich media distribution platform.

Each communication rate was tracked by individual email address, which allowed Medica’s broker network to more quickly respond to customer needs and questions in real-time.  The video email open rate was 55 percent and the average recipient viewed the video postcard message on average of 1.7 times, spending 2 minutes, 18 seconds viewing the video content.

Medica found the return on investment using Flimp video postcards to be much more successful than prior communications campaigns that used print, static email and other forms of marketing collateral.

Based on the success of the broker video communications pilot, Medica will be expanding the program in 2014.

Conclusion: Portable, interactive video postcards are a highly efficient and cost-effective method to communicate complex benefits’ information and empower brokers to communicate and educate their clients better than the competition in a simple and engaging way.
